Why do you ask

Just to confirm how it went together. I'd bet there was what looked like a washer under it and around the insulator that has a rough area on the outside edge were the wire crimp part broke off. The reason for the apparently complex assembly is because it can be assembled with a single nut, probably by a robot.

Hi, as Robert I was expecting a third wire lug connected to a separate port on the puller coil. If this 3rd one isn't there, you'll never have the start command coming from the start relay (T18), seems that's what you get at the moment.

Looks like Fiat used a different connection style, as we can see on the old starter; so here's how the connection(s) should be, coming from the solenoïd body:

- build in metal path coming from large long strud to + of the solenoïd (left one seen from back), this is where the separate port would have been.
- possibly a theeted washer
- the lug that connects the "command" wire
- possibly another "contact" washer
- CERTAINLY and MANDATORY insulation sleeve
- main cable from battery +
- charging cable from alternator
- possibly a couple washers
- final nut …
You should find the missing cable laying around somewhere, maybe it has been snapped-off by rotating parts so it may be shorter than expected to reach the port, but as Robert said it should be brownish with about 3mm Ø and it comes from the connection box near the battery.

BRs, Bernie
