The small wire should be brown in colour.

Look more like what you have but has no third terminal.
This would have to have a large external relay or contactor to switch it.
Do you still have the old starter?

Hi Robert no it’s the right starter as it was exactly the same as the old one 100%

1.4 petrol

Hi Robert yes the old starter is back in the car as we changed battery and starter motor but had same fault so put old battery and old starter back in

This is the original starter motor as you can see it’s the same connections

OK , that helps a lot. The third wire connects to the metal ring around the insulator of the big stud. ePer shows a spacer that probably clamps a large diameter ring tag to that.

I did not see the old starter picture before but can now see that the ring for the third connection is clean and shiny so had to have been covered by the Connection.

Starter to relay. The brown wire must be under there somewhere.

If you connect the stud to the ring around the insulator the engine should turn over.
