Hey guys,

I'm eying a really nice set of 3d 2008 seats in great condition (front and back) to replace my heavily stained Grande Punto 5d 2006 seats.

From what I've read in other threads so far the 3d set should fit my 5d (right?).

My current front seats are fitted with air bags, the new seats don't have any. Is it possible to transplant the air bags from the old seats into the new seats? Any tips and tricks?

Thanks.

I'd expect the 2d seats to use the same floor mounting points as the 5d, but two minutes with a tape measure should confirm.
The 2d seats will of course have a tipping mechanism, for rear seat access. A novelty in the 5d.
Seat airbags tear themselves out by bursting the stitching I believe, typecastboy might be able to add something here, as he deals a lot with crashed 500s. The stitching in the non-airbag seats may be different, which would cause the airbags to act differently. So care is needed here.

Thanks for your insights Bill, much appreciated!

If the main concern would be the stitching and getting electronics in the new chairs I think I'll manage. I'm wondering if the inner framework of airbag-less seats are the same; with an open cavity to house the airbag. If someone who's seen the insides of an airbag-less seat could confirm that'd be great.

Seats with airbags inside are designed with weak stitching along the line the cover is intended to burst.

The non airbag seats will be very unlikely to have this weakened stitching which can result in the airbag not deploying correctly.
