Hey Guys. I have a grande punto tjet 1.4 2009

So I had my timing belt / water pump and tensioner I believe the final pulley is. Not sure if I'm being paranoid but it sounds a bit, only as what I can describe as dry / whiney / graunchy when you press on the accelerator. Seems to only do this when you set off / give it gas. Idling it sounds fine and I recorded a before and after and it sounds the same. But sods law I've never recorded my engine whilst giving it gas so not sure if I am being paranoid or not? Have a look at videos and let me no your thoughts.

1) This video was on the day after it getting done and me back home.

2) This video was.me recording today which is about 7 days after it being done.

Thanks any help appreciated.

Hi Everson

I don't know if this is much help, but I have the exact same noice on my 1,4 tjet after timing belt replacement, the shop has had the car in several times and tried to "Loose" the noise - no luck, it was changes at 66.000 km and the car has now run 105500 km... still noise - but I have never had any problems. I'm not saying you should ignore it, but my shop has not been able to find the error.
I'm planning on having it change again soon, and having a authorized Fiat dealer/shop do the job.
The noise on mine becomes very clear at aprox. 1500 revs.

Best regards

Niels.

Hey Niels really appreciate you getting back to me with your opinion. I have to partly agree as my car feels fine, even go as feeling in slightly more powerful. But I never did it before timing belt and my car only has 10k miles on it (yes very low mileage) It seems to be worse on cold start ups. I took it back to garage and he said he can hear something and wants me to leave over night :-( to diagnose. I've done another video which you can here better ( you will need to turn up the volume so if you have YouTube on TV that's best option) But would appreciate if it is this sound you mean with your own car :

Can you remove the timing belt cover?

Try to record near that area / alternator / aux belt tensioner etc.

Hi

Yeah, you're right, thats not the same, i didn't hear that fef fef fef fef sound in the first videos, sorry. sounds like something is a Little off and hits something when coming around.

Mine is also in a shop today (my aircon not working!! ) and I saw you had similar problems.. i'll get back to you on that too.

I will try and record a video of "my " sound when it's back.

Hey nill

Looks like I should be sticking with you ad our cars seem on a similar journey Lol. Yes plz keep me posted on your aircon issue. Abd if u wouldn't mind doing a recording of.your engine that would be great also. My last video maybe temporarily disabled as I've had to make it private for a few days but will be up later for everyone to see again.soon

Hey guys SO UPDATE. My car was in today for it to be looked at and it was in over night for them to check it first thing today. They called and said top if the cam cover there us a slight 'cammy / tappety noise but nothing wrong with timing belt water pump etc. And said they wouldn't worry. My car does run fine and even feels a little stronger in boost but still not 100 percent. I'm more like 70percent. I think imngna have to do some inspections myself maybe raise my car and try get sounds from different locations underneath. If anyone has any ideas of what I can do also please let me know .
