Hi,

I have a 56 GP 1.9 with roughly 55k miles.

Now I am hearing a grinding noise everytime I shift gear, especially to 3rd, when I release the clutch.

I am driving the car anyway as I can't take it to FIAT now, but has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks,
Alex

Well, no replies but I took the car to the garage and I have been told it's the dual mass flywheel and the clutch that need doing - price ranging from 750 to 1100- has anyone had this done? I am not sure whether I just need to throw it away or I should fix it

Ring round different garages in your area for more prices.
You could even try Mr clutch for a price.

55k seems quite early for a DMF failure (even clutch disc) to me... What is your driving style, town, highway, mixed ??
Usually "they" replace the DMF when doing the clutch disc job only to be on the secure side, most of the time it does NOT need replacement, there is a procedure to test them but I guess not everyone performs it; it's way much easier and safer for them to have the piggy Customer pay the bill ...

Hey Bernie - yes I thought so - 55k is nothing - I've always driven in town as it is the car in use to go to work - I am not sure whether to take it to the fiat dealer to have it checked by them but they didn't even bother calling me back last time I called them for a quote - so I am kind of stuck
