Hi Guys,

Bought a non start GP, had loads of can bus errors swapped the Engine ECU and now it's happy. Tries to start maybe 2 seconds of cranking then code (imbolizer) light comes up and stops it. MES is saying key fault with trouble code U0426. The key still has its programming on it according to a local locksmith. I'm waiting until i get the V5 in my name so i can get the Security Code to re-pair the key. Anybody know of anything common with the immobilizer system which could be causing it ?

Thanks guys

Ben

Hi Ben, the immobilizer simply does its task: immobilize the car when something looking like a thief tentative happens...
The ECU is internally coded, like the key fob, so it is recognized as valid by the immobilizer; you need to have your ECU serial cleared so it can work with your car.
Do not know who can make that clearing but have seen on the web that those ECU were available as 'clean', code-wise.

BRs, Bernie

Here is a previous reply from Adrian Bravo regarding a similar issue ...

If you end up needing a new Immobiliser/ECU you can swap the new chips to your old physical keys saving swapping all the barrels. I am not sure on all the options but I know The ECU's and Imobbiliser boxes are electronicaly matched so you if you want to replace one you need its matched partner plus the key chips. That or you could find someone who can edit a lone ECU/Immobiliser box thats the bit im not too clear on . This might be usefull http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/datarecall/ This might be worth a read too https://www.fiatforum.com/bravo-brav...blue-keys.html

BRs, Bernie, and special thanks to Adrian !!
