My first post here so hello everyone :)

I recently purchased an 09 5 door 1.3 GP. I've since found that the drivers side carpet was wet. I pulled up the carpet and found orange sponge sound deadening that was absolutely sodden. I've removed and dried out the floor covering. I now need to find the source of the water.

it's definitely water rather than any vehicle fluid. But there's a small stream, not a drip.

The water is trickling down from the sound deadening material near the servo inside the cabin (pls see atachment). I can't be sure exactly where as I'm unable to remove any more sound deadening due to components.

I read other postings on here about the tissue paper servo plate. The channel below my servo plate has been well and truly siliconed in the past as has the hatch. I tested water ingress here using a running hose directed at the bulkhead from inside the engine bay. There was no water trickle inside.

I've narrowed the location of the leak to somewhere on the driver side of the windscreen (or wherever water goes from here) as using a hose on this area results in a streaky trickle of water inside. There's no trickle when I direct the hose into the scuttle. The water only gets inside when it runs down the side of the windscreen. As it happens, this is where the wiper deposits rainwater so it's no wonder the carpets were sodden!

So ... Any ideas what to try next? Can anyone advise how water can be getting in from this area? Also, there are a pair of plastic components at the bottom corners of the windscreen. What are these for? The bottom part of them are under the scuttle but I'm wondering if these have any bearing on the problem? Should they be on top of the scuttle? Does anyone have any images?

Many thanks in advance :worship:

Have a look at the guides section and find the section on replacement scuttle drain. This is probably the issue and the reason it is coming into the car could be that the bulkhead around the servo has rusted through. The guide should sort you out.

Cheers

I think on early models of punto the scuttle drain tips it's water on to the top of the brake servo,in later production a L shaped pipe was used to avoid this problem and you should be able to buy the modified drain pipe and fit it to earlier models.

Cheers guys.

I have ordered a replacement L shaped scuttle drain.

I hosed all along the scuttle this afternoon and could see the water pouring out of the existing drain - it wasn't touching the servo. As mentioned on my first post, I hosed all around the servo plate and found no water inside.

The water is trickling in somewhere around the near side of the windscreen. Pouring water there results in a waterfall inside the bulkhead. I've got my fingers behind the sound deadening material and can't feel any rust.

Cheers,
