Hi
Own an orange punto sporting T-Jet. Been looking at getting a bit more power out of it with the basic breathing mods. Just curious as to what sort of HP/torque people are getting with similar mods.

Will be running:
-K&N 57S airbox
-Airtec IC
-VL36 turbo
-2.5" Cat back system

Also what sort of boost levels are safe without maxing out the injectors?

Thanks

I was literally just about to ask the exact same thing. I also have an orange T-Jet with the VL36 on it. Not gotten round to fitting an exhaust yet. I've been quoted £639 for a custom remap from ecotune in Glasgow and I'd expect to get around 172bhp. However with your additional mods I'd be expecting bhp to be in the 180s. Sorry I can't give more info.

That seems very steep for a remap, get another quote. Under £400 in Aberdeen and we get robbed for everything up here!

I believe standard injectors are good for up to 200 bhp max, better to change above 180 though.

Cheers

Ben

My VL36 isnt on just yet, getting it sent away to be checked before installing and mapping, hoping for a little bit more turbo noise too

Just get a new CHRA for !150 and another 50 for a new exhaust housing
Don't spend money on checking it.. spend the money on a new turbo.

Wooo that's so bad... so it won't get 173 ? Maybe 172.5hp?

:)

I don't trust people that give out exact power numbers like that... if it's one degree hotter/colder the power changes.

Dont trust CHRA from places like latvia, bad expirence before there cheap for a reason

What does "safe" mean to you?
The pars listed:
-the intercooler is ok for ~230 hp;
-the exhaust is ok for ~250+ hp,
-the injectors .. not so much google "fuel injector power calculator" and you --will find slightly different values:
but the stock ones are bosch 0280158167, they are 267mm/min. good for about 170hp at 90% duty cycle.
You need at least 10% or even better 20% extra duty cicle.. for eventual problems, or if say you are running at max speed for prolonged periods... some ECUs will inject more petrol for a slightly cooler burn, in order to keep temps down. Or maybe the wastegate is stuck closed..more boost etc.

If you want more (and you do) then replace the injectors before the tune.
Alternatives:
0 280 158 108 (320ml/[email protected]) (corsa 1.6t) ok for ~200hp @90%
0 280 158 124 (370ml/[email protected]) ok... for 230hp @90%

But the vl36 won't go that high...
My t-jet is basically stock, with a vl36 and a decat Ragazzon downpipe.
On a Mustang Dyno ~194ps still on stock injectors, but i will be replacing them soon and i will be getting a slightly oversize intercooler suitable for 230hp)
I've had a ~5-7minute run at top speed..and ended up with a melted spark plug electrode...so bigger injectors coming soon.

Service intervals will have to be reduced!
Spark plugs replacing earlier,
Plug gap need closing a bit to ~.65mm
Oil consumption will probably increase.

I dont really want to hit 90% duty cycle, dont want exhaust temps to rise too high after spirited runs, or boost levels so high its just pumping hot air, seems 150-160 would be safe/not stressed for injectors by the sound of it

For that power you don't need to spend money on the intercooler or the exhaust.
Stock ones will handle that no problem

Nerings do a pretty good job, most people buying from them are happy (i'm sure some fail, but some always fail)
I got my CHRA from from a different company(just because it was 50euro cheaper) from Germany, it was made by a Italian company ..that probably produced it in China. :)
TurboRail..has been on for ~14k km at 194ps.... regularly sees 6.3k rpm, had been on multiple 12-14 hour high-legal speed trips.
How long will it last?! -No idea... but so far has been great.
If it lasts another 12k great! I can just get a newer version chinese CHRA, that has improved a lot from the current one, that one would be ok for even longer.
So..?

Chinese turbos have improved 1000% in the last 2 years.
There are a lot of T-jet engines running td04. close to TD04 max power ~250hp.

Intercooler is more for show, my personal preference, plus it will only help more in warmer weather, as i know the stock ones are used on the 180hp abarths

Not sure about that.
The stock one can reliably be ok for 140hp(maybe a little more more because it's got good air redirection shrouds)

I assume the one that people see on the stock Abarth 180hp.. is in fact the stock intercooler used on the Bravo 2.0 165, that one is good for ~220hp.
Visually it's the same.. but is 15mm taller and 30 mm thicker/deeper. (the radiator and AC evaporator also differ on this one)

Pretty sure i looked on eper, punto evo abarth has same part number as my intercooler
