Hi all,

Had this car a week and a half and already there's a million things that need doing that weren't mentioned or noticed in the test drive..

I think I've got a boost leak somewhere - car seems to go fine sometimes then other times just loose boost and is slow as... Seems to be intermittent. I think it's been mapped by someone else and wondering if it's mapped for v power/supreme (if people do that) as it's only since putting lower octane fuel that I've notice it.

Its either that or my ramair filter, but it's been boosting fine with that on at first.

Is this a common problem?

GP S1 on 99k miles.

What engine?

If it's new to you, been mapped/modified previously and you've modified the intake I think you are pretty much on your own. Too many variables. You will have to check and rule out all the possibilities one at a time. Good diagnostics such as a registered copy of Multiecuscan is a good pace to start.

It's a Tjet.

Looks that way, just trying to see if there are any common issues. If boost solenoids or recirc valves have a tendancy to go then I can get this sorted if it's a common issue.

If we are talking about the t-jet:
if it's not been mapped right it will go in limp mode when it gets to a certain boost pressure.. THERE WON'T BE A ERROR (not initially).
But it will limit boost by opening the bypass valve or by closing the throttle plate.
Boost should be

It could also be a cracked hose in the wastegate/boost solenoid area.

You need somebody with MES that knows what they're doing to log+graph different parameters.. intake pressure, throttle position, boost pressure before the intake, wastegate solenoid....and a few others...
For the trained eye it will be pretty easy to spot a problem.

It's booked in for a health check and rolling road (to check for power dips etc) on January 9th. Should I avoid boost or just keep on going?
