Hi all,

Had a nightmare last night..

Was driving along having an issue where the driver's side windscreen wiper teeth appear to have broken - the wiper after a few wipes will actually wipe off the end of the car - so I most definitely need a new wiper set.. Grr. It's the first time driving in the rain since buying the car, so who knows.

Then all of a sudden, ABS, ESP, HH and ASR all stop working. No apparent reason, just driving a long at about 50mph. I'm hoping it's not going to be a common problem as it's only thrown this error up when the car has been wet/driven in rain- it's never happened before and I've only had the car a week today.

It appears to be an intermittent fault as when the engine is restarted it takes a couple of minutes for me to lose ABS / Traction Control again.

I'm going to check to see if the ABS Module is wet, and see what fault codes I can find to see if I can track down what the issue is. Looking at the forums though, it's a common problem. Does anyone have any solutions/suggestions?

Thanks,

N

Under the bonnet is the main fuse/relay/distribution box, next to the battery.
Disconnect battery ground and losen the fuse box so you can somehow flip it to see its bottom. If wet you got it ! Dry (hairdryer) it and spray some water repealant on it.
You might notice there is a little "hatch" missing on the plastic Wheel inner arch, if so close it (duk tape), that's where the water comes from...

I never checked under the fuse box, but it would appear that the ABS module wire was wet through.. It dried out overnight and then we've electrical taped it up. Touchwood we have no other issues but so far it's been alright :D

Thanks for the update Nick, would be interesting to identify where this water came from ...

If could have been a large puddle or something. I was driving home at a very slow speed as I had no windscreen wipers or heating so I couldn't see at all..

Touch wood it won't happen again though. We've had a few very wet and icy days and we've been fine.

So.. Seems like it wasn't the water. Just an intermittent error which is permanently on now.
