I have just had a phone call from my daughter, the owner of a 2007 1.4 GP.

Her heating has packed up ,not suddenly but over the last three weeks and intermittently.

The fan/dial works and blows cold air out on all 4 settings.

Im proud to say she has recently qualified as a social worker which involves a lot of driving. In this weather she's struggling and is coming over to see me on Sunday when everywhere is closed.

Im thinking air lock or low coolant although she tells me the temp gauge moves as 'normal'...

I have searched the forum and www.,,honest.

Any ideas?...

Maybe the heater control valve has become disconnected, make sure the hoses to the heater matrix are both hot.

There ain't any water control valve on GPs ...

The temperature is regulated by mixing cold and hot air via an electrically controled flap. From my head the motor actuates the flap by mean of a little rod or a platic toothed round gear.

I would start from there, under the dash-board ...

I have just spoke to my daughter and talked her through re filling the tank etc on the phone. She was snowed in at the weekend.

At least a litre of water replaced and she has heating again, and more importantly the car has not overheated so fingers crossed there's no damage.

She's over at the weekend so I will check everything and flush the system and refill with new antifreeze .
