I know the manual clutch can last around 120,000 miles if it driving carefully. My sister's 1.3 90 6 speed dualogic is lovely gearbox but I am still can't believe:eek: her car is currently at 168,000 miles and it still got the original clutch since the car was build. How it is possible? is the automatic don't required a change clutch plate in lifetime???? I am not expert to know all about how the automatic is works.

IF the system is properly controlling.. then you'll
have no "slipping / abusing" of the clutch..

so shouldn't be any great surprise it's lasting as long as a LOVED manual..(y)

THOUGHT - being diesel might help.. our old tipo TD did 400k on it's original clutch ( and exhaust..)(y)

A robotized manual gearbox masquerading as an auto can work well, and will look after the clutch as long as the electronics or hydraulics do not suffer any faults (which were rife on the older selespeed boxes), so you've done well to cover 168k with no issue :)

A clutch can quite possibly outlast a car as long as it is not abused. Remaining out of gear with foot off the pedal while stationary helps, as well as not riding the clutch to keep the car stationary on a hill instead of using the brakes (bugs the life out of me when i'm in a car and someone does this).

Mate of mine had an E36 BMW 318i with almost 200k on the clock when it failed it's MOT for corrosion and beyond economical repair. He owned it from new, and was still on it's original clutch. His mate took it off his hands and used it for donor parts. About a month later he commented about the clutch, it still had loads of friction material left, so could have easily done another 50% of the mileage already covered.

Look after your car, and it'll look after you :)

Yes..of course.

Why Ive had faith in so many FIATs..
Proper engineering.

Modern 'joint venture' stuff .. not so good.

every croma i took apart still had original gm back box, stilo back boxes last quite long too, 2001 2.4 100kw alfa over 400k on the clock first turbo engine gearbox, just got 2.4 lancia lybra with 520k original turbo gearbox engine, just rusted sills and rear axle, car starts on first try everytime
