Hey Guys

I HAVE a grande punto tjet 1.4 2009.

Can anyone recommend a good scan tool that isn't too expensive for my car. I don't have a warming light but thing it would be good to have one. But don't want to be too expensive as I want it to be a cost effective purchase for a diy mechanic

If you have a Windows laptop, buy licensed version of Multi ECU Scan and the leads recommend on the site.

You can also get Torque lite (free) or Pro (~£5.00) from Google play store for android phone and a Bluetooth adapter but be warned, this will only give some fault codes definitely not all and will only do engine. I had several stored when checking with MES that Torque Pro did no show.

Cheers

Ben

This thing plugs into your socket and tells you the faults on your mobile phone. It decodes the fault and tells you whats wrong in plain english so no codes to have to go on the net and find.
Its cheap and works on all our cars .
You can leave it plugged in and see all your cars info as you drive.
Send an email to this site to get all the info on it

Hi Jarmot (and BTW welcome on board !),

MES is definitely the best tool you can think of for the Fiat world (at reasonnable price), it can OC show and clear all error codes but can also communicate with the second CAN bus nodes (body computer, instrument panel,...) when using a cable adapter.
MES will also allow you to activate some stuff in your car, and also verify if the actuators / circuits / switches / indicators are working. The license itself is about 50€ and you can find a good OBD reader for less than 10€ on ali..ba (might need modification tho) and a set cable adapter for anothe 10 or even less …

Thank you, MES it will be then.

What would be a good cable set from Ebay? I have some very old (more than 10 yrs) ELM device but newer would probably be better choice. USB-version, not BT. I'm old school guy and I like cables over wireless :)
