Gates AND Continental are both well renowned manufacturers. You will easily forget the few €/£ more but never the squeaky belt ...

Can anyone shed any.light on where I should replace.my tensioner as part of maintenance when doing the serpentine belt? I ask because my haynes.manaul (although do not cover tjet models) Does not seem to have info on changing the pulleys and tensioner for any of it? Leading me to think it's not somethings that's usual done for maintenance

Hi Emerson,

that's not really a big job if one fails or start to chirp later. The mechanics usually replace the whole stuff together though... Now it's your wallet and your time !

I think I will have to do some checking. Because as you.mentioned chirping, I can here that type of noise. I'll probably do a recording for people to hear and see. But it maybe a new pulley of some sort.

Hi Emerson,

seems that's all to be found in the eLearn ...

Based of.this it seems that the tensioner is meant to have a locking pin. .thanks fiat because I know.mine hasn't and was probably never given or lost during some inspection b4 I knew a t8ng about cars lol

The locking pin is a special tool used to lock the tensioner 'at rest' when replacing the belt and as such is not part of the original Equipment ...
