Hi, the drivers door electric window broke today. Its a 2010 1.4 8v which I bought new, 67000mls on it. Everything was normal then I went to open the window, there was a loud noise in the door like glass breaking and it now wont open though when I press the button I can hear the motor whirring in the door. There are no warning lights lit or anything.
If anyone can let me know what the problem might be,

Thanks.

I'd start by striping it down, there are 2 most likely issues, the mech where the regulator joins the window, or the regulator itself, often these break cables around the winding mech and the cable can make a mess of the housing etc, if you look up window regulator, window regulator repair on eBay one part which links the mech to the window is around 10 pounds, the regulators 25 and upwards, by looking at the parts you can see what a simple system/task I've never seen the window break inside a door with no evidence visible, not to say it couldn't happen. It will be a simple fix and not expensive

Many thanks for that information, :worship: I wouldnt attempt to take it apart myself anyway, my regular mechanic is on holidays so I will have to take it to someone I dont know so its good to have a bit of prior knowledge.
It sounds like the noise I heard was the cables breaking alright.
Think I can hear them rattling around inside. (y)

There's a great lad near Shannon for these cables, he makes S/S ones that won't rot, That,s if your near Shannon. If you need details PM me
