That part on the top under the rusty looking nut is this

Not seen it from aftermarket Fiat supplier and genuine they are about £15 each. You may not need it be the rubber on both my cars was starting to perish..

Cheers

Ben
Hey Ben.

Do you know if this website is still trading. It's just any site I've never used I seen if they are active on social media to guage if still active and their fb is disabled and twitter post was 2013. So I worry about buying and then my items don't arrive

Why would you want to replace it?

Its just a flat plate of metal to hold the strut located in the suspension turret...it will not wear as such.

The bit you need to concern yourself with is the rubber donut and bearing (aka the "top mount") that is on the underside of the suspension turret and hidden from view.

Those will wear/cause noises/handling issues but you can get them from a dealer or the eurocarparts for £30-ish per side;

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Fiat_Grande+Punto_1.2_2008/p/car-parts/suspension/suspension-and-steering/suspension-mounting/?609580160&1&c8fed2a6618c74cdb457180e927f14d6479a7abe&000872

If you are concerned about unsightly rust i'd just take the plate off, wirebrush it then paint with a suitable aerosol? But like i said its not really an issue.

The rubber perishes and cracks up eventually, that's why I replaced mine when I did shocks and mounts.

I bought from that site approx 16 months ago, was fine then.
Hey Ben picking up on an older post here so hope you see it. Just wondering if you knew do tjets need a specific type of coil spring. My drivers side has broken and want to replace it but I want some affordable ones so looking on ebay and whilst the searches state they are compatible it doesn't say it's specific for tjet just that coil spring just fits my shape car? Also with your shocks I'm in two mind to do this also as they are nt leaking but are factory ones. Do you know any places for mid level affordable shocks?

Thanks any information appreciated.

Hey u33 I've just done a response to Ben below asking about shocks and coil springs. If you have a moment would appreciate you having a look and given me any feedback you may think of.

Thanks again.[emoji1]

TJet springs are only available from Fiat at a ridiculous price. All aftermarket springs listed for TJet are the same part number listed for standard GPs. If you fit them, you will end up with a 10mm lift and softer suspension. You will really need to do both sides at the same time.

Get eibach pro kit, this will drop the car by about 15mm all round, you'll need to do rears too but they are done in about 30 mins a side. After much research, this is the best option unless you want to pay about £90 per spring from Fiat. My insurance company didn't want any extra for my sport springs but do let them know.

Cheers

Hey Ben thanks for the indepth response . So the eibach kit did you get yours from ebay? Also when you say it drops 15mm is that 15mm lower then where tjet spring spring sit as standard as I wouldn't really want to lower my car any further. I was just hoping that there was an affordable aftermarket copy to tjets . But I guess the only options really is just replace coils or go with softer standard shocks all round and a 10mm lift or try the eibach kit and get more sport feel but have a 15mm drop?

Yup, will drop about 15mm from standard TJet height. I got kilen sport springs, drop is about the same but they ride harder than Eibach pro. Don't get the standard springs, your car will look and ride totally pants.

Cheers

Lol sorry to be a pain again mate. Do you know if the springs are also special tjets ones or could I find just a pair of compatible spring on ebay to go on my car?

Just search for Eibach pro kit, there are a few options but a while since I looked. You will get 4 in the kit. Will be less than a pair of fronts from Fiat.

Cheers

Hey Ben mate. Think I'm going to give those kilen brand ago as I saw a review you did a while back and like to use what other people have used if good. I'm looking to by mine off ebay from Micks Garage. Is this how yours looked?Screenshot_2018-06-12-03-06-01.png

NOOOOO!!!!

They are standard ones, 10mm lift and softer!

Mine are Kilen Sport. As with all performance springs that stiffen and or lower they only come in sets of four. If I was buying again, I'd get Eibach, Kilen Sport are a bit on the stiff side. As I said originally, two choices...... A pair of OE from Fiat at about £180 or a set of four Eibach for £120 ish if you do some searching. You've got a nice car with low miles, don't bodge it for the sake of a few quid.

Lmao I can picture how you screamed out that noooo lol. I'm a noob with parts buying sometimes I thought they were the sports ones. I think these are the correct ones? Screenshot_2018-06-17-03-23-24.png

Those are the Sportlines. Big drop and stiff. You want the Eibach pro kit, will only drop about 15-20 mm and not such a harsh ride.

Cheers

Ben
Thanks again Ben. Believe I have found the right ones as seem to be only ones on ebay. Also PS called fiat to enquire to how much for 2 new front springs: £219.00!!! So even though I'm not a fan of lowering cars it's just too much so will give these a try Screenshot_2018-06-17-18-23-10.png

Yup, they're the ones. If your top mounts are not new I'd change them at the same time as they are fairly cheap and have to come off anyway.
Your fiat dealer is even more expensive than Arnold Clark!
