Hey Guys

This is abit of a tricky one.

But my mate carried out a coolant change and everything appears to be fine BUT the temperature out of vents seems abit too hot.

Now this is not something I tested b4 hand, just because who does? But since.i was in heating mode I'm now starting to wonder if it's too hot with my hand by it.

Has anyone ever took the temp of there heating Vents on max heat? I doubt I'll get an answer but here goes.

Thanks anyway

In this hot weather it will be hot, mine was also too hot to touch during a long trip on the motorway. Nothing to worry about as long as the temp gauge is at normal.

Hi Emmerson,

the coolant temp could go as high as 100 °C ++ before going into steam, thanks to the pressurized circuit. Due to losses in the exchanger and air conduits, I believe the air flow will never get higher than 60° C, which is anyway enough to feel incomfortable.
I will confirm with temp probe next time I got a ride with other Half's GP ;-)

BRs, Bernie

The cars thermostat will keep the coolant at around 86'C so the air coming out of the vents will be very hot indeed with a warm engine, it will feel a lot warmer in the summer as the hot ambiance temperatures won't take the heat away from the coolant as much as when it's winter and freezing outside

Hi Emmerson,

had a ride yesterday and could check the temps :) Here's the setup:

External temp : 21°C
Engine temp: 90°C
Recirculation: ON
Fan speed on: 1
Windows: Closed
Highest temp: 62,4°C (while waiting at junction)

Air flow gets cooler, when the recirc is turned OFF, by about 10°C.
I have also attached a pic with AC on, same other settings...

Wow berne thanks for this I wasn't really expecting a response as I thought it.was one.of those ppl never thought about jobs. But this is amazing thanks for the detailed response and setup. I'll check mine today in conjunction with you findings

Hey berne just thought I would share my findings. I had the same setup as. Minus having Recirculation on and the outside temp I'm not sure of.
