Listening to your video again the high speed ticking is the injectors.

I have a similar engined corsa d with me at moment for service and MOT so paid extra attention to top end sounds.

Is there an occasional heavier sounding tap at a slower pace than the injectors?

Yeah I think I am going to try wynns hydraulic lifter fluid and give that ago and then do next steps in turn.

Hey Jack. Some new info from you here, thanks! Erm to be honest i definitely here a constant ticking all there time. Its there when car is warm / cold / even when you rev. But cant say if i hear an occasional heavier sounding tap, as i guess my ears not properly trained yet, cannot say for sure. I have uploaded another video to youtube, pretty much showing engine sound again, but thought 2 are better than 1.

Now not sure if these are related but just giving you full back story. About a month ago, the car brought up a P0300 Misfire code, upon inspection there was some minimal oil in spark plug wells and plug. So i changed all spark plugs, valve cover gasket, and spark plug boots, which cleared the code and car back to normal. The sound of the engine was loud b4 any of this happened, but just painting a picture.

Let's say it is the injectors:

1) Where are they lol
2) How would you go about diagnosing / ruling them out
3) If they are playing up what is the fix?

Also want to say massive thanks to you jack, as its nice to know you were at work, saw something related, remembered it and took the time to share with me to help me out. You are a legend.

First pic injector electrical connection no 1 cylinder has line painted on.

The injector no 1 is almost directly above no 1 spark plug in second pic.
The square silver tube that is horizontal joining all four injectors is the fuel rail.

From your videos , I think you are hearing the injectors opening and closing.
If the ticking is louder near injectors then you have your answer.
They are not playing up , that's the noise they make .you are not the first person to be worried by injector noise .

Whatever happens the warrantee people won't consider doing any work until it definitely has a problem.
Have oil changed at least every 10,000 miles or every year if car does less than 10,000 miles per year.
Do not believe the you only need to change oil every 20,000 miles people.
Oil change is cheap engine repair is expensive.

Thanks for all this. I had a listen again about 5 mins ago and I would say it sounds louder at the back the ticking. Over to the right so around spark plug 4 side. Coiencendtly I put some redex into the car last week as was trying get a fuel system clean. I did a test and had my gf rev the car ever so slightly but at a constant hold, I noticed the ticking sped up with it. Is that what an injector would do if you held the gas pedal? Also it's not bad that they are loud like that?

I was thinking of getting some of the hydraulic lifter fluid anyway just to be on say side or at very least do it as preventative maintenance. Do u think that is good idea?

Yes , every other Revolution of the crankshaft each injector opens briefly, allowing fuel to spray into each cylinder.
So as the engine revs speed up so does the opening and closing of each injector.
Sounds perfectly normal injector sound to me on your videos.
I can see no harm in adding lifter fluid to oil if you wish , just read instructions on fluid bottle.
How many miles has car done? At what miles have oil changed been done?
Have you used 5w-30 or 5w-40 engine oil?

The injector is an electrically operated fuel valve that is either on (open) or off (closed)

Hey jack sorry for delay literally mid way through replying, my house has a power cut...Mr unlucky over here lol. But car has done about 25k miles, it has had oil change once a year since 2013 - Although it may have missed on as we were on a service plan and can remember if vauxhall year 2 cover oil and filter change. But this year and last I changed oil and used 5w -30. Magnatec and petronas.

I will be sure to read directions before use mate. Thanks again I will keep an eye on it, try a few things and keep u posted. You been massive help. If ur garage ever needs a rebrand ill hook u up :) ( I'm a graphic designer by profession ).

Nothing really constructive here but my 1.3MjT is quieter than this petrol engine !! Is there any oil in there ??

Yes there is oil in there checked it and did a fresh oil change about 2 weeks ago. I suspect different brands are at different qualities. I've had a bunch if m8s record their engines and send me videos as they have same. And we are all on par ish. Still gna keep eye out and test what I can
