Had a slow leak from the gearbox area and just the other day the car wouldnt change from 2nd to 1st gear when the clutch was fully depressed! Wondering if anyone can advise on the problem??
Thanks in advance

identify what is leaking , that will give a clue

With an old windows washer can, spray a water and dish-soap mixture where the leak is and surrounding area, rince with clear water, redo until all is clear from oil, let dry.
Have someone pushing the pedal while you watch for the leak appearing from somewhere, you'll then have the culprit...

I have tried cleaning the area but the leak seems to be incredibly slow and 5 mins of running on axel stands and changing gear didnt seem to get it to leak!!

Try peeling the rubber gaiter around the end of the slave cylinder (which is on top of the gearbox) back and see if there is fluid inside it. If there is, you have a leaking slave cylinder. They're about £40 and dead easy to change but not so easy to bleed.

If that's not the problem, your clutch could be on the way out. Does it "bite" when the pedal is still almost on the floor? How many miles has the car done? My daughter's car had a similar problem and despite fitting a new slave cylinder and bleeding it repeatedly, it still was hard to get it into 1st and reverse. In the end I ground a bit off the back of the clutch pedal to allow it to travel further! This is a BODGE and I wouldn't recommend it if you want to keep the car, but it has got her nearly another 10,000 miles so far and the clutch still isn't slipping!
