According to the receipt, I recently purchased a 2008 Fiat Grande Punto Dynamic Sport 1.4 8v with Dualtronic transmission. 5door Hatchback

But when I went on eBay to buy some wiper blades it asked me to identify which model I have, the options were:

199 [2007-2010] Hatchback
199 [2008-2011] Box
199 [2007-20012] Hatchback

I phoned a scrap yard to ask about another part and he asked if it was a mark 2 or 3?

How do I check the DNA of this car to get down to the actual model?

you may also want to use a tape measure and measure the length of each wiper on your car this may help you find the correct ones.


If this doesn't work for you go to Halfords but buy the bosch wipers there not Halfords own brand. bosch more £££ but far far better and worth it.

Thanks for that. I was going to buy Bosch, I find unknown brands last one winter - if you're lucky - then start juddering across the windscreen like the one's on it right now!


I wish I knew what the model selection meant though, I've seen other advertisers on Ebay use it for other things.

199 is Fiat's chassis code, so for the selection in post 1 it wouldn't really matter but in your case you'd select 199 [2007-2010] Hatchback as yours is a 2008 Hatchback (as opposed to a Van/Box).

Mk2a (Mk2b is a facelifted version of this)


Mk3/Grande

The Grande has had some updates since it was released in 2005, but it's not really changed completely so there's not really a Mk4, 5, etc

Thanks for that info. So how do we know it's not the 2007-2012 Hatchback - 2008 falls within that range also????
[motor manufacturers don't make it easy]

As said, it doesn't really make any difference, the 199 & Hatchback are the important parts.
