Hi,
I have a 2006 Grande Punto and recently I have noticed that my all my tail brake lights turn on by themselves as if i'm braking even if I don't touch the pedal.

There are no lights on the dashboard and the brakes seem to work fine, I was thinking it might be the brake light switch or an electrical fault.

Does anyone else have a definitive idea on what the problem could be?

Cheers!

First thing to check is the brake pedal switch. These are self adjusting and this can be reset. Locate the switch and the plunger/rod that the pedal arm presses on. Push the pedal down, grasp the plunger (pliers are useful here) and pull it to wards the pedal. The plunger should come out a few clicks on a ratchet. Let the pedal up slowly and the plunger will reset to the correct position. Next thing is to either put Multiecuscan on it and monitor the switch and light status or just chnge the switch.
I don't think water in the light clusters will cause the problem unless the brake lights come on with the sidelights or indicators.

Does anyone have pic of the location of the brake pedal switch, i tried to find it on the net but with no result. Thanks
