Hi all,

Having an issue with my GP thats driving me insane!

So last week i had the rapid indicator flashing issue and lamp warning light on the dash that I solved by cleaning the contacts on the rear lamp with WD40. I noticed however that one of the contacts was rusted beyond being able to sand it off.

I replaced everything and the indicators returned to the normal flash rate, however the warning for a bulb out on the dash come on and off when the break peddle is applied, and goes out when you take your foot off the break.

I have replaced all bulbs, but to no avail?

Im i right in thinking the rusted contact might be the issue here? New Rear light in order ?

This all started after I went to the supermarket car wash! (Never again...)

Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi there,

the body computer controls how much current is sent to each circuit it feeds. Rusted contact have more resistance than a clean one:

- more resistance = less current flowing : the BC interpret this as a failure and indicate it on the dashboard.
- Circuit open (bad bulb): no current at all : failure shown.
- Short circuit (wire to ground) : failure shown

That's how it works, so yes the rusted contact is most probably the culprit ;-) To be 100% sure you could measure the current that flows in this particular line by replacing the protection fuse by an Ampere-meter...

Regards, Bernie
