Had MOT today and passed....

Had an Advisory.....

Nearside and Offside Front Antiroll Bar Link Cover Split.

No idea about cars. Is this worth getting fixed? Are these covers important? Could them being split lead to further problems?

Quoted £88 to get them replaced.

Thanks.

Hi,
The links will need replacing at some time. With the covers split the grease will come out and dirt will get in causing wear.
£88 is not too bad. You can get a paiir of links for £15-£30 e.g. random ebay item

Easy to fit, if you can get the old ones off. Sometimes the nuts rust on. Tools required are jack, axle stand, small socket set and open end spanners.

yes they need replacing.. if there is no knock on bad/bumpy roads it could be posponed a few days/weeks.

You can get new rubber covers if the joints are OK.

Not really worth it unless you just want a MOT pass to sell the car. You have to take the links off to fit the boots so why not just change them. It the boot has been damaged for any time water and dirt will have got in so the joint will fail.
Even if you had not noticed noise from the front before, it creeps up on you, you will probably notice the change. If a garage is doing the job they will probably charge as much to change the boots due to labour costs.

Very true, but if like me, you have a good selection of new and good used boots then it's a very cheap fix
