Hi, nothing works at all !?

- check positive from body computer
- check grounding from body (C015) on A pillar
- CAN bus connections (might be CAN module failed)

It's all shown in the diagram..

Hi.

I forgot to mention I've done an ecu lock and immobiliser swap.. as was bought without a key

IT starts and runs but the dash is lit up like Xmas..

I've also exchanged the complete steering column from the same donor car as ecu etc has come from.. so not sure as to why it doesn't want to power up the steering or let me connect to its evlcu

I've hooked it upto diagnostic equipment..

Various codes came up... airbag light is on. But cannot connect to ecu...
Power steering is none operable and no connection to ecu...
ABS light on. Can't erase codes.

Any help appreciated..

ONCE AGAIN, a lot of initial info missing ! HOW would you like US to help if we don't even know such detail as "oops, forgot to say ECU was replaced..." (or similar)

That being said (barked), I believe you issues would be (at least partialy) fixed by performing a PROXY Alignment on your Body computer. Need FES or MES to do that !

Regards, Bernie

If someone here helped You fix or understand your issue, hit the thanks icon @ bottom right, it's free and make us happy...

Quite right my apologies...

The car was due for collection so asked in advance of any obvious issues to instrument cluster failure.

My Last post was more in depth of the faults 'as is' now.

So they are as follows AND result via registered MES

ABS light on. - NO connection to ecu
Airbag light on passenger and main - no connection you ecu
Power steering in operable- unable to connect to ecu.

I've tried a proxy alignment and it connects to the ecu writes to the can but fails to execute. But has stopped the mileometer flashing. Upon install

Can setup says NGE is unavailable
Reciever radio is unavailable ( aftermarket fitted)
NAB unavailable

What I have replaced from factory and why

I bought the car online with a supposed instrument fault and drain on battery.

I immediately thought it would be an ecu problem and or alternator. Sourced a donor car.
Get to pick up fixer and owner tells me he has now lost the key... no issue I thought as already was going to do full lock set change anyway .

I've swapped out

the whole steering column. As steering wheel was in bad shape.. although I have noticed the original was a 7 wire purple cable from sensor to loom. BUT it's original to the donor ECU. Hence why swapping it over.

Instrument cluster

Immobiliser ecu

IGNITION lock not done doors yet but it's not relevant at this point.

Main ECU

I've visually inspected the earth above the ECU. But will take it off and clean later.
Visually inspected and tugged battery to chassis earth. Again will undoubtedly and inspect better.

So I am a little confused as to why I can't connect to ABS AIRBAG and POWER STEERING.

I can however connect and erase and actuate engine, components

LOVE IT :)

Great description Mike !

"So I am a little confused as to why I can't connect to ABS AIRBAG and POWER STEERING."

Do you mean here that you can't MES/FES connect to them or they're not "talking" with the ECU ?

Regards, Bernie

Ok, then you probably have a bad ELM interface... Have to go right now so can't expand much on this but you'll find all necessary info on the forum... Will be back on air this evening, sorry

But it works fine on another punto... all be it mk2.

Could a bad earth make components not allow ecu access.

'bout pictures : Click Reply, go Advance, click the paper-clip and select the picture(s) you want (up to 5) then upload... Submit your reply and we should see the pics :)
'bout connection : the CAN termination built-in some ELM interfaces MIGHT pass on some vehicules, not on others, it definitely needs a fix so to work EVERYTIME...

Just had a thought and been out and checked...

The DONOR ecu is actually from a 75 hp engine...
Original is a 90 hp...
But it runs the car...

I put the original ecu back on and got same response on all areas

That's pretty strange since the 75 and 90 bhp manage the turbo boost in a different way !
Beside that it's pretty obvious that you have connection/configuration issues, maybe broken wire(s) in the loom(s), those can become very brittle specially after resting in same shape for years then suddently being straighten/pulled/bent again... There are some comments about the steering wheel and airbags; doesn't seem to be exactly a plug and play job...

You can't connect to Engine ECU while you use the yellow adapter, because the engine CAN is not connected with the yellow plug, it's either engine and ABS or the other nodes...
Regarding your pictures:
- don't you know the Prnt Scrn function on your laptop ?
- you would have reflexion-free pictures
- with reasonnable size so they open quickly for us
- that you can nicely store in a Laptop folder...

Power steering is now resolved. I've checked all associated fuses. Power steering one had gone...

The steering when turned I can hear a scrapping inside the steering wheel. I'm thinking the squab maybe faulty. I've also noticed the seat belt pretension error cable has been severed and twisted together.. it gives out a HIGH reading in ohms 106+ whereas passenger is 7.5

Airbag faults ate logged as
Drivers side resistance first and second stage
Incorrect configuration.

So tomorrow I'll check squab, wiring to airbags.and replace drivers seat belt tensioner from donor car.

ABS I've checked all fuses and relays.

Errors were including steering fault but there resolved but still getting

Engine torque signal from injection control unit..
