This afternoon I was parked on a slope facing down with the gear in reverse. When I went to leave I had the handbrake on and the foot brake pressed, moved the gear lever to neutral, turned the key and "nothing." I was then able to move the gear lever to all postions without the notification on the binnacle changing. Which said AutoN. And it 'was' in neutral. The accumulator did sound. I know with normal automatic gear boxes if the lever is incorrectly positioned it blocks the starter. Is it a sensor problem?

I've read your message through a few times, and it seems a little different to the way I do it . I open the door, sit in the car.switch 'on' the ignition , press the brake and then select N , if the car was left in R or D, and then start the engine.
I believe it's possible to start the engine in Ror D by keeping the brake pressed but have never done it that way in the past 12 years.
Then select R or D with the brake still pressed. Seems to work every time. Perhaps I'm reading your message wrongly ?

check fuses.

they are MIDI type and The third to the right (30amp) ontop of the positive terminal blew once and resulted in the same issue you are having.
