General Struggle to start when cold

Hi Andy,

go up #9 and You'll see the MAP usage, related to mixture calculation... That's why I was asking for LIVE values from MES. Curves would have shown inconsistencies between air intake and engine coolant temp ... It's an easy job to replace the MAP sensor, just need a torx bit. Price is 80€ @ Fiat dealer and 50ish @ parts shops.
Regarding the door latch, does it happen immediately or only once the car entered the anti car-jacking condition ?

Regards, Bernie

Regarding the MAP:
-as well as the air pressure sensor it includes an air temperature sensor.
-with it disconnected, the ECU will automatically assume the air temperature is -35 degrees C and as a result will pump more fuel ( that would otherwise bee needed at +15 degrees C.

The fact that it starts better with the MAP disconnected does not mean it's the MAP that is defective.

Live data from Multiecuscan is the only thing that can help.

Bernie,
The Punto has been starting fine the last few days but Door is another job to be getting on with, you can open from outside but not inside so she winds down window to let herself out, also sometimes it wont shut at all so think its the latch that needs fixing,I will check other thread.
But thanks everyone for their help on this issue of not starting, will replace existing Map sensor in next few weeks but Aurick what are you saying it may be not the map sensor itself but a component within it,but by replacing it it would fix problem would it not?

Hi Andy,

good to hear that the car start w/o problem.
The component Aurick is refering to is NOT serviceable, You have to replace the whole assembly as it combines the Pressure and the Temperature sensors in the same housing. It's basically plug and play, just be sure to have the exact same reference as the body will be the same but the internal might be quite different !

Regarding the door, search for door latch and you will find nice posts with this (well known) issue fixed.

Regards, Bernie

Hi Guys!

I decided to do the same... I disconnected the MAP sensor and the car start without any problem :) The best thing is I've changed the MAP sensor before.. So I think the new MAP sensor is faulty...

Kind Regards
