Anybody have any ideas what these cables are? I've just pulled the stereo unit out of the central console to find a few severed cables botched together with insulation tape. Any ideas what they are for?

I can't see where they go. I know one is the aerial which is f@c#ed. It looks like they go behind the dash?

Original stereo or aftermarket? Does it look like any wires are missing from the black or yellow/blue plugs?

I think it's had aftermarket in before. Came with oem. They seem to lead behind the steering column.

Something has been done to the wiring below the plugs, you can see the blue insulation of two crimp connectors. Perhaps the loose red and green wires used to go there but are now redundant.

Yeah I can't see the crimp connectors but I've wrapped tape around them taped them together and left them for now. F'ing car is one big headache and the garage are taking me to the cleaners.

My guess is the previous owner ran them from the after market head unit to another amp/active sub etc.
red could be live feed to the amp/sub
green could be a remote to switch power on/off on amp/sub
you may find the other end of the wires under the seat or in the boot area
