Technical Heated rear windscreen fuse? 2007 1.9 multijet

Hi Gimba and welcome,

couple of fuses and relay involved in the rear/mirrors defrosting, have a look at the drawing... Tell me if this is not the same layout as Yours.

Regards, Bernie.

All sorted :)
Black and brown wire were torn apart in the loom from boot to body work, and also there was a Maxi fuse in the engine box, top one 30amp that was blown, replaced it and fixed wires and all is working :)

Thanks for the update Gimba, may be usefull for other members !!

Regards, Bernie

Sorry for negro'ing this thread but I need your advise on this too.

The heat in rear window does not work, I've checked the following:

1) Cannot find any blown fuses in engine
2) Cannot find any blown fuses under dash
3) The wireloom from body to hatch has perfect undamage "tape" protecktion around it, so I figure that must be ok.
4) There is light in the rear-heat button when activated
5) I cannot see damages to the heat-threads on the window

Added:
6) I've measures from each terminal on the connection points of the heat-threads to the body of the car, and get around 7v.
7) If I meassure from contact point to contact point my volt meter beeps to confirm that the 2 points are connected (I did not remove the connectors, so the connection could have been testet though the fusebox/dashboard and not through the heat-threads.

Question, how to I proceed to find out what the fault is, without buying a new rear window?
I don't get how I can have power, but the threads isn't heating.

Ok..
Basic diagnostic:
Do the door mirrors still heat ok?

Same switched circuit ;) if they work.. you have power from dashboard :)

There is a possibility that :
Cables have frayed within the rubber boot

You have lost an earth at rear of car

If the rear gound connection the one marked C030A on the above scematic?

I though I had at leat some power since I can get 7 volt from 1 terminal to the chassis. But when I emassure between the 2 terminals I get 0,1 or so.

BTW - I didn't even know I had heat in the mirrors :)

Not totaly true Charlie, they share the same relay (and command signal), but after switching they got their own separate fuse ...

Problems with the rear wiper as well ? They share the same grounding point (C030) with the rear defrost ...

Anyway as in 3) on a previous comment, don't trust external aspect of looms !! And 7V measured in not an indication of power, but more of LACK of power indeed ...

My wiper works perfectly.
Guess I just have to cough up and go to the mechanic..

I see no damages to the loom between hacth and body.
I see no corrosion at the terminals.
I experience no other electrical faults what so ever, other than window demister/heat isn't working, which is an absolute pain :)

Bring direct 12V from battery to the heater terminal: does it warm-up ?
Then feed only positive from battery and 'normal' ground: does it still warm-up ?
Finally do the opposite: negative from battery and positive from car: does it warm-up ?

You should by now have insulated the problem ...

As said early 7V is WAY too low, C030A is the common rear grounding point, but I believe several grounding wires are connected to it, so your wiper working ok doesn't mean the heater ground cable is ok !

Hi again.

There is always the possibility the heater has failed...
BUT.. that 7volts just sounds WRONG.

worth investigating the wiring further ;)

Sounds like a good plan with bringing up power straight from battery, why the F*** didn't I think of that :) LoL

I'll let you guys know what I find out. :) (y)
