helloooo, just bought the 2006 1.4 8v fiat grande punto. over the next few year/years I'm planning on doing everything I can do to get it going abit quicker. Especially as my girfriends 1.3 ford KA is faster! I've read a lot about air intakes and remaps, but when I've looked online I've found it hard to find any for my car. If anyone has any links for it I'd appreciate it!!! Plus what is everyones opinions would it be worth me looking for a 4-2-1 exhaust, or the less likely paying to forge the engine and then turbo it? and just a added point is it possible to swap the 8v head for the 16v head? thank you all!!!!!

Anything is possible, but it will cost big time if you're after real power. Fannying about with air intakes & exhaust manifolds will do faff all. In all honesty you aint going to like my suggestion, you would be better off & cheaper buying a turbo car. In all seriousness a wee 8v Punto is just not worth it. I don't want to sound patronising but I get the feeling you are a young guy & even if did all this, I doubt very much if you could get the car insured. Brakes/suspension all of which has to be changed.List is extensive & expensive.

A small punto says it all I'm afraid..:)

If that's true (their age), I'd agree with that. My 1.2 Punto cost me £2.4k first year, and now it's £1.2k (n)

I'm waiting until the cost goes down below £600-700 (when I'm 25 likely), and then I'll upgrade to maybe a 1.8 punto. Before that though they'll sting ya for all you've got. :bang:

I have a black box which has bought it down to £1.8k its not cheap!

I'd think about getting you flywheel lightened you'll get more bhp and torque. But remeber your insurance premiums are high for a reason.

Keep the car standard & save for your next step up & I'll give a wee tip, clean out the throttle body & multi earth the car. You will not see any increase in power, but I'll put money on you'll find the motor a wee bit more responsive. When was the car last serviced? New plugs, oil & filter aint going to break the bank.
