ok so im learning to drive and my brother gave me his 56 plate fiat grande punto 1.2 active. all was well all runs great (apart from nocking sound from front when pulling away/low speeds) and ive been going out in it with my mother too get extra practice.

THE PROBLEM:
today i went to unlock it and had to press the unlock button 8 times befor it unlocked curiousely i tried locking it took 4 attempts then it unlocked and locked ok about 3 times befor not unlocking or locking again so we used the key went for a drive and i thought maybe the fob batter is on its way out so brought new batteries put a new battery in and still it plays up can anybody help? i thought maybe it needs programming but if thats the case why do it sometimes remote lock/unlock?

many thanks

pete

Hi Pete, is that the kind of key that "folds in itself" ?
If so you can manage to open in apart and remove the PCB:
- if solid state switch: nothing to do
- capacitive switch (rubber button on half or so circles on the PCB): you might clean the PCB where the rubber sits with isopropylic alcohol...

Easy, cheap and worth a try, regards, Bernie.

hey all the problem seems to have solved itself o_O soo for now its working ok i dunno why it stopped working but its back now

Not sure but my remote control has developed a problem whereby when I close all the doors the car locks itself. Sometimes when I have the remote near the car it will lock and unlock.:)

lol the mystery of the haunted fob ;) these lil issues i dont mind as its my first car and i got it free just deciding on lil parts to squeeze tiny amounts of power out of the 1.2 as i cant afford to buy or insure a bigger engined punto haha

To help you with he knocking from the front when moving slowly. I have that and for me, it's the strut top mounts having seized. Getting them replaced tomorrow

mine turned out too be the air intake pipe had come undone from the mounting bracket screwed it back too it and no more nocking
