Only just noticeable on setting 3 but on 4 it's easily not just a fan noise.
Any ideas would be grateful before I have to take it apart

have you had any luck finding what it is ?? as mine was doing it and now wont work on 3rd haha

Possibly just rubbish in the fan area....underneath the glovebox is where the fan lives. Three bolts holding the fan in place but it;s a pain to get to and undo the bolts. I found some leaves in my one a while back..it could also be that the bearings on the fan are going but pretty sure that's rare I think.

Some heater fans have a small balancing weight attached to one or more of the blades. If any of them have fallen off, the fan could vibrate at certain speeds.

So if anybody has the problem with the noise, the screws might be loose , so you need to tighten the 3 screws on the fan as i did. I changed the fan as well, it cost only 50€. The new fan is much stronger.
