Hi All,
I just bought my first own car. Been driving lease cars for the 12 years. Don't know much about cars in general but i used this forum when i was looking at buying the car. Bought a 2009 GP 1.4 Active.
1: When standing still and needing to turn the steeringwheel fully to turn out of a parking spot or so. The front right strut seems to be making a noise (kinda cracking noise). I've been back with it and there is no movement in the strut or wheel itself. Looking at the FAQ it is suggested that it's the top strut bearing. The Garage says it's just because i'm turning it to far. Which seems strange because all of the cars i have ever driven have never made this noise. But again i'm only used to brand new cars and never had them longer than 3 years. So could this be the top strut bearing? Could this explain that no movement is felt and it's just the early stages of wear? The car had just passed it's annual inspection for it's APK (dutch form of the MOT test) and it had a secondary inspection aswell. The RDW (our department of transport)rechecked it to see if the garage did their work the way they should. Could this also explain why they didn't catch this? Because wear and tear of the suspension is one of the primary reasons not to get a pass on the annual inspection.
2: The second issue i have is that every once and i while i hear a knock at the back right wheel. This only happens every once and a while when breaking (not hard) and when going over speed bumps at a lower speed. But it's not every time and i don't seem to hear it when at higher speeds. I suspect it might be something in het back like the spare wheel moving a bit or so. Also have seen suggestions on the forum for locking mechanism(?) and maybe backseats causing this. Anyone have any suggestions?
thanks in advance
Mark
