Hi all .....


Newbie here looking for some advice;


I've recently got my first car and always had a soft spot for the Punto, so made sense to pick one up, 08 plate in black, lovely little motor. However, my rear door on the driver side is very hit and miss at whether it opens, now when I got the car I opened the doors and it was fine but now I'm finding it a rare occasion to open. I'm booked in the garage on Saturday to have it checked and I'm still under warranty but what's the script with them? easy fix or a massive job? I'm guessing when it was MOT'd the week I picked it up, they opened fine, otherwise it should have been a fail?

This is a fairly common issue on the Grande Punto - both my rear door are difficult to open (using the far end of the handle while pressing lightly on the top corner of the frame seems to help with mine).

My back doors wouldnt open either but i came up with a great idea. I got some 1mm metal cut into the same size of the small lever thingy that operates to open mechanism cut to size heated metal up with blow lamp then with pliers rest it in place it melts into plastic and is a great permanent fix.

You can do a number of ways ive seen ppl put cable ties around etc . Feel free to contact me if you not sure what i mean . I did mine and still lasting. Whilst my m8 has just brought his third set as his kids are heavy handy. Mine will maybe out live car
