Hello guys,

I have a little problem with light shaking on steering wheel on idle. I feel it too on my seat a little. I changed gearbox mount a month ago and I think this might be a problem. Idle is perfectly fine but if I open bonet, engine shaking very strange.
When you go on car touch your steering at idle and clutch out. Do you feel anything?

My engine is petrol 1.4 16v

Hi. Sounds like an engine issue.
Did getting cambelt changed have any effect..?
Mounts should only be stressed under totque reaction

cambelt, sparks etc. are all new. First time when I feel this little shaking is when I change aftermarket(bilsten) gearbox mount not original from fiat dearler but is this really start this problem?
I thinking about lift engine with jack from botton and start car. If car don't shake any more I have problem with engine mount?

My car is year 2007 and it has only 56k km on clock. This is nothing for engine.

As I say...tell me guys if you feel any little vibration on idle in your GP petrol car.

Has it had spark plugs recently.?
Could be the HT leads failing. No.4 HT lead usually fails after spark plugs changed. (Usually caused by the mechanic not unplugging the HT lead from coil before pulling the lead up and stressing it)

Yes my mechanic changed spark plugs 10kkm ago.

I still have problem but now steering wheel and all other things vibration only when engine is cold. When engine warm up this vibration goes away. Rpm is normal at 900 and engine noise is normal... I don't know what is happening

By stretching the wire in the lead and sometimes disconnecting it internally from the connector in the plug cover!

Are you any closer to curing the fault.?
If this fault happened when you changed the gearbox mounting then maybe you try another mounting.? Get a proper fiat one this time.

It's also possible that the mechanic did not support the engine when changing the gearbox mount and left it hang in the other 2 mounts. If the other 2 mounts are tired and almost gone they crack very easily.
I've seen a few mechanics do stuff like this and I don't like it one bit.
You could take a look for yourself, the engine mount is on the passenger's side, next to the ECU, the top gearbox mount is underneath the battery (you need some tools to remove the battery and the tray) and the lower mount is next to the exhaust underneath the car.
I don't know which mount you changed, was it the bottom gearbox mount? That one goes first I guess since it's dampening the engine's front-back sway motion.

Me again:D

I didn't find the solution yet but I searching every week. I lift the car with jack and start the engine. Mount have two sides. First is on car body and other is on engine and between is rubber, understand?
If I touch first side of mount on engine is shaking and other side on car body dont. This is the same on all mounts and this is probably normal.

first side(red circle) is not shaking and other side(blue) is shaking. This is normal.

In past week my mechanic did the engine mount alignment

But didn't help...

But month ago when is my mechanic changing gearbox mount is pushed exhaust flexible pipe on the side very hard and I thing this could be the problem. If I looked this flexible pipe on cold engine is severed(broken) on engine side, other side is ok. When engine is warm exhaust stretched for 2-3cm and flexible pipe is not severed any more. So there came my theory about shaking very bad on cold engine and little shaking on warm engine. What do you think about this?

I think you should go back to the mechanic who changed your lower gearbox mount and ask him to change the flexible exhaust pipe with his own money.

Engine sound and works perfectly fine. Only this stupid vibration on seat and steering wheel. Now is cold weather outside and vibrates more that in warm weather.... when I add a little gas vibration dissapear

I really like this engine and driving experience on Grande Punto and cannot wait to fix that.

Stay tunes guys!(y) In this week I will remove all exhaust and if it doesn't help I will add some rubber and silicone in dog bone(gearbox mount under the car).
Next thing will be again adjustment top mount on engine....and last last last all new engine mounts:)
