I have a Elegenza 1.3 multijet automatic 2008
Sorry fairly new here.
Could anyone explain the above for me.
I don't really understand it.
My car holds for about a second or 2 and then rolls back.
Is this normal?
I don't even know if I have hill holder.
How can I check?

Yes you have hill holder, and yes 2 seconds is normal, as stated in the user manual.

If your car holds on an incline hill after taking your foot off the brake pedal while in gear, it will release after 2 seconds, or as soon as there is sufficient engine torque to move off. Whichever comes first.

People without hill start assist would normally catch the bite in less than a second. If you got the bite after two seconds you've probably already mounted the bonnet of the Merc behind you. :slayer:

It's to aid with hill-starts, not to hold you on a hill in traffic. That's what the handbrake is for

Wow! I have had the same car for the past 7 years, and I hadn't even known it had hillholder on it. The instruction book never even mentioned it.

It was only available to models with ASR.
