Hi there! Totally new to this forum but I thought I'd give it a shot as I need advice!

Driving in the rain yesterday to find my grande punto sporting '56 reg quickly steaming up... realised my fans weren't blowing at all. I did a quick on the spot check on google and found that the actual motor is under the dash so I wiggled some wires and found that the fans came back on.

However, every time that I turn the car off and restart it the cable needs readjusting; the fans wont just come on at the same level as when I last used them.

It seems that as I push the cable upwards the fans blow more powerfully.

Any ideas? Does anyone know how I disconnect the black circular motor from under the glovebox? It's almost like there's a loose connection?

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Jack

Wiring loom or heater resistor under glovebox.
Check the loom and make sure there are no burn wires especially where it connects to the resistor
Make sure you get the exact, like for like, resistor as there are loads of different types.

Resistor is easier to change and loom is a pita but often is the problem.

More than likely the wiring, if the resistor is gone it will only work on 4, No need to buy a new resistor, have a read of this, it's for the Ducato but same basic fix......https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/335452-heater-fan-resistor.html:thumb: If you search here you will find a fix using an Opel Corsa wiring connector, perhaps somebody else can find it and post a link.

Ok thanks, I removed both plugs from the wiring loom and had a go at them with switch cleaner, I was thinking that maybe there was just some oxidisation on the contacts where the connection wasn't perfect... that was 4 days ago and I haven't had any issues since.

Thanks for the help!
