hi all this is my first post although have been a viewer for quite some time and find this site really helpful!

im having problems with my 55 plate grande punto 1.3 90 6speed, after being stood for 12 months, now giving it to my brother (1st car) it will not rev past 2500/3000 and is really slow to accelerate. having looked at some similar posts they have given me an insight but still cant solve the problem! any help would be useful and really appreciated as im losing my mind over it lol!

no codes are showing up on the dash, but i have plugged it in and a stored code came up with a maf sesnor, after disconnecting the problem still persists. not knowing how long the code had been there for ive replaced the sensor with still no joy.

i have then checked all the boost pipes and no splits or holes so there not leaking and also bypassed the intercooler and seems to be fine.

before it wass off the road i changed the egr valve so dont think thats the problem and also disconnected the control unit on the egr and drove it will still no change.

ive checked the arm on the waste gate and it seems to be moving fine and have checked for any play in the turbo and tht seems to be fine too.

at first i just thought it needed an Italian tune as it has been stood so long and not really been drove apart from moving it around the driveway. but still no joy and coming to my wits end with it lol, its a shame really becasu i really love the car and have had many fiats (when there working lol)

any advice would be greatly appreciated :) thanks in advance

Hi thanks for the quick reply! Sorry forgot to mention I serviced it before taking for its mot last week did the fuel filter and new fuel as I thought that might be the problem. ( still passed it mot though even though it's not running right lol)

One last ditch attempt at the MAF then, if you can remove it, give it a clean. The Alfa forum seem to suggest this and it resolves the issue. If it does, the likelyhood is you'll need to replace the MAF shortly after as cleaning it doesn't fix the problem 100%

My original thought was maf sensor but unplugging still makes no difference, so then I replaced it with a new unit from ces ( quite expensive for some reason lol )and still the problem exists ! The only other idea I have is that there is an exsahust blockage causing back pressure but that's a stab in the dark so to speak

Fuel pump I'll have to investigate, could be as the Car had been stood with the same fuel in for 12 months, I'll keep you posted!

cheers for the reply

Yeah thought there might be blockage but I've checked it and it looks fine if anything it looks new.

I'll check it, wouldn't know where to look? In the engine bay ? It is it down by the tank?
Thanks

Hello dear. I have a Fiat Punto 1.3 JTD Multijet 90CV, the same thing happens to my car... it does not accelerate more than 2700/3000 Rpm, I see that your problem is from a long time ago, can you tell me if you solved it and what was the problem ? From already thank you very much!
