So after having my car inspected, the local mechanic suggest that the sump would need changing since it's rusting on the outside.

He quoted me around £219 just for the sump...quite high? So I've ordered the same quoted sump online for £35!

I was wondering, would I also need to order new gasket as well as a sump plug to go along with the new sump?

07 reg Grande Punto Dynamic Sport with about 58k miles on it :)

Cheers! :):)

They all rust if its not showing signs of leaking / weeping why change it?

you will need gasket or rather RTV silicone gasket compound

Might as well change the oil and oil filter at the same time.........

get some plus gas on the manifold studs well before you start

might as well get a new matching sump plug incase the after market sump has a slightly different size / thread....

oh and be very careful of the oil pick up they are very fragile

Garage may have quoted for a genuine sump but still sounds a bit pricey. To be honest, the cheaper ones are a bit crap and you usually end up with oil leaks after fitting them because the shape at the ends is wrong.
