So...yeah I'm having steering rack problems on my GP

I think that the end bushing is the problem. (slight play - up/down + noise over rough road)

Mechanic said the only solution is to replace it but I don't like the idea. (this is a non-serviceable item from fiat)

I've found a shop on ebay which makes the bushings

http://www.ebay.com/itm/STEERING-RA...ash=item41a04b7dca:g:r-gAAOSwzJ5XTxlw&vxp=mtr

Since this is my only option before replacing the rack with a new one (I'm not going to spend my time over used or refurbished units) I think I might give it a try.

What do you guys think ?

If there is nothing wrong with the actual rack honestly I'd give it a go at the end of the day it's just a bush you would like to think it would be relatively simple .
At the end of the day you might manage to save some money or you might just pay for a rack like oh had to before trying anyway nothing really lost

H have the same problem i bought one of these from the same seller but can't get the old one out so i am just going to get a replacement rack

Why? it seems like an ''easy'' job. Remove end rod then inner rod (I THINK you have to replace inner rod after right?) and then slide the bushing out.

Am I missing something?

Firstly you will have to remove the subframe ideally as the inner tue rod will be difficult to undo as there is limited access and once off the bush sits recessed in the end of the rack behind a tiny rudge between the outer casing and the outpit shaft of the rack and i just could not remove it

a low millage 2nd fand rack is only about 35-40 on ebay stick 2 new innet tie rods on it and a cople of gaters and will be like new then stick it in the car

Yup, exactly...

I don't know guys maybe I'll leave it as is. I want to sell the car in the end of the year.

I think this is not a major problem after all ?!
