As per title my central brake light isn't working and I have the message check stop lights on dash. 2 Side brake lights work fine.

I've changed all the bulbs as they looked a bit smoky, still no joy.

Any suggestions as to where I go from here?

I've got my MOT on Tuesday, will this fail it?

Since this is one unit, I read that if you want to change the central rear light, you have to replace the entire unit with a new one.

You reckon it might need a new light unit then.

I was a bit tight on time yesterday, will pull it out and have a closer look.

The wiring looks ok, nothing frayed, but I might need to borrow a multimeter to check if the power is getting to it.

Usually either corroded terminals on the fitting or the wire in the rubber concertina that is between the car body and the rear hatch
