Hello all,

I have recently bought a fiat grande punto 1.3L multi jet diesel 07 plate. When I first bought it, everything was fine then about 2 nights ago, the car wouldn't start although all the electrics worked fine. I had a warning light on the dash of an exclamation mark in a triangle. After the AA came out and bump started me, he said the starter motor has gone. I'm in the process of trying to remove it but cannot find any bolts or anything to undo to take it off. There is very little information in the Internet about what to do so thought I'd ask on here if anyone knows if you can do it at home or if it's a garage job to do it.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kieran

Hi Kieran
I can relay to exactly what you are saying after doing the same job on my brothers Punto Van it is fiddly !!
Best thing to do is Jack the front of the vehicle up as the starter motor is around the back of the engine ....
There is one bolt underneath and the connections are underneath the main power is bolted via a 13mm with a plastic spacer block with the exciter behind you'll see what I mean when you remove this...
There is then one other bolt which goes through a recess in the bell housing you'll work out where it is by the shape of the new starter just note it goes the other way through hence the top part is threaded !
Hope this helps let me know how you get on buddy

Hello,

Thanks for your advice. I managed to change it following your instructions. Only problem now is I don't think the starter motor is the issue. Bloody cars lol. Well back to the googling to solve the next issue.

Any stored codes in the ECU ?
Check power cables/ earth points / fusebox / battery (even if it looks good)

No presentation, nothing ..., maybe a future "no-feedbacker" ?

Most people are useless parasites. They don't give back to the community.
They use (abuse) forum "one-way", only extract information and then disappear.

It's time to update forum rules.
If you don't report back (problem solved or not), your topic will be erased.
It can be done manually (moderators) or as a forum function, "toggle bit" or topic "status flag".
Original poster is obligated to update within, let's say 3-6 months and flip the thread status ("topic solved"). If there is no change in status, topic is deleted automatically.

For now, this forum is "quantity" oriented (not quality of the content). Most topics not solved, and multiple threads on the same issues, started over and over again every day, without Searching (that can be checked too - if new forum user ever tried to use Search before posting).
