Hello,

I keep getting the warning light triangle with an exclamation mark come up on my dash whenever I press down on my brake pedal. The light will remain on until I turn my ignition off but will immediately come back once I press the brake pedal down again. This happens while the vehicle is both parked or moving.

I had this warning light show up about 6 months ago whenever I turned my lights on. This was resolved by replacing the two middle bulbs in my rear clusters.

Does anyone know what the issue is and if its easily fixed?

Cheers!

After you changed the bulbs 6 mths ago, the fault cleared and has just started again now? Sounds like some other bulb(s) need replaced.

I've done a 360 look around the car and every bulb works.

The warning light only comes on when I press the brake pedal. If I get in the car and turn the ignition on. I can turn my lights on and off without the warning light showing. I then press the brake and the warning light comes up on the dash within 3 seconds.

If it's only coming on when pressing the brake pedal then it's to do with the brake lights. With all other lights off, stand behind the car while a friend presses the pedal. You should have bottom left and right lit, along with the top one.

Check connectors for rear lights, its possible that one of pins inside is damaged. If its damaged try with contact sprey. Had same problem on my punto and solve it like that. (y)

Also, check the brake pedal switch. Mine got jolted, and I had all sorts of warning lights after that. I reset the brake pedal switch and everything worked...

Thank you for all the replies! I'll give them all a try this weekend and come back to the post ??

So I've had a friend check my brake lights and they all are all working. My top rear middle brake light comes on and the two brake lights on each rear side turn on. I really don't understand why I'm getting the warning light...

Did you check the brake pedal switch? I caught my foot under the brake pedal one day and pulled the pedal up to get it out - after that I got the same warning light.

I found out that the brake pedal switch (on top of the brake pedal in the footwell) is sensitive and needs to be set up properly. I got down in the footwell, wiggled the switch around and checked the connectors, then depressed the pedal and pulled the switch shaft down to meet it. Then I let the brake pedal up, turned the ignition on and pressed firmly on the brake. The warning light went out, and hasn't come back...

Do you have ESP? This is from the manual but it won't copy the symbol, Red or orange?
ESP SYSTEM FAILURE
(amber)
Turning the ignition key to
MAR the warning light turns on, but it
should go off after few seconds.
If the warning light does not go off or stays
on when travelling together with the button
led ASR OFF, contact Fiat Dealership.
On certain versions the dedicated message
is displayed.
Note Warning light flashing when driving
indicates that the ESP system is active.

i had that problem some years ago. It was the 3rd light stop, some bad connection (not bulb fault). when pressed the brakes, Sometimes it worked others not.

even if you change the bulbs they need to be 2.3W (i think... check car handbook) otherwise the onboard computer will assume it has a bulb fault.
