Hi all!

New here, looking to get some help before giving up and taking car to garage/Fiat.

I have a 06 Grande Punto which apart from a few cosmetic scuffs was in good working order. On Friday I drove to work as normal but when I got in my car at 5pm, I turned the key in the ignition and the car turned on i.e electrics, stereo and hot/cold air all were working fine. Then when I turned the key again nothing happened whatsoever.

I called my insurance and the recovery guy came helped me bump the car and diagnosed it as the starter motor. I don't know much about cars but took his advice, went to Euro Car Parts and bought a new one which with the help of an experienced friend, we fitted yesterday.

To no avail the car still won't start. :bang: Do you guys have any advice? The only other thing we tried was trying a new fuse for the starter motor which also didn't work.

Thanks in advance!

Ben

Earth strap onto engine/box? Why didn't experienced friend test things before starting work. Test old starter, maybe nothing wrong with it.

Hiya mate. I had the same thing with my 07 grande punto. Ours seemed to be an ECU failure as we used the spare key with no transponder to open the car once. A warning shud come upon the dash and say ECU failure. Or something along those lines

I'll ask him about those things. Ha, maybe experienced is the wrong word but knows somewhat about cars.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll check everything that's been mentioned and report back.
