Hi all

i am a new member so bear with me if this question been asked lots of times
recently i had to renew my battery since doing so car wont start turns over about three times then stops also noticed icon of car with padlock on but cant remember if this showed before and dissapeared when started. also remote central locking not working but dose with key. any help would be great

What engine? Why did you replace battery? Did you replace with an equivalent one? Are connections OK?

1.2 8v the battery was changed as it been in since 2006 when i bought the gp all connections are okay. the new battery is lucas but same in everything else

Check and clean Earth strap connections

i will try how many is there

It may be that however i had the same thing with 07 grande punto and the cause of that was ECU failure as we used the spare key with bi transponder and not programmed to the car to unlock and start the car. However ours happen out in the blue.

ok, so have you tried both keys..?

the car spins over for 3 attempts then what happens..??,
battery is flat..or the starter seems "disconnected",

:idea:try getting out, locking car..unlocking..and try again..
if it does another 3 attempts.. let us know,

brand new battery. when i try starting car spins over about 3 times then stops even thou i not moved key

tried locking and unlocking still same turns over 3x ane not start plus as before remote locking not working also icon on dash with car and padlock

tried all you said but still same turn key to start and turns over 3x then stops without starting engine plus icons on dash flashing etc. and remote locking not working but can lock all doors with key inserted

Light on dash is immobiliser. Do you have a spare key or a master (blue or red) key?
Have you tried the spare key?

put a jump lead from battery negative BLACK terminal to engine metal work,

there is something odd with your electrics,
check the things listed in Grande Section FAQ's

Wish i new more about electrics on these cars as i could have popped over as only in Ponte there's a Lad in Selby who as a diagnostic he also sells virginised ECU and what i be leave he used to work for Fiat at one time
