should NOT be gearbox related.. only issue there couldbe the speed sensor.. however if your speedo works it's NOT that.

the light on dash means it's got power,
I'd use MultiECUScan to do a relearn, ( reset of ECU)

those systems are all linked YES.. I was going to mention the clutch switch.. but you'd not mentioned other issues

where are you based..?,
it'll only take 10 minutes to attempt a reset..
