Posts: 69 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 ![]() | Broken Coolant Pipe! Hi All! Weekly checks were fine last two days and today, suddenly engine overheating on the way to work! Air con was misting out and immediately stopped the car. Probably overheated for 30mins or so..? On the road side, I found out that the coolant pipe leading from engine (right side) directly to the coolant reservoir had came loose! I believe it will be fine after the pipe is replaced and coolant topped up. But will the 30min engine over heating cause and future issues?

Seems not to be the pipe that is broken or burst but the part from the engine where the pipe is being clamped unto broke off. Any idea what part is that? Thermostat?

A cheap and nasty solution if ever there was one! It's a relatively easy job. I got a Wahler thermostat (a good make) from Eurocarparts for about £35, I think. It has the same pipe but in metal.

This is just the hose with the quick release connector. part no 55703092

(Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and it's not actually anywhere near the thermostat housing but is a totally different part)?! P.S. Sorry, I think I might have just reported that post - I clicked on the wrong link! Hopefully the mods will realise it was just a cock-up!

The other end is on the thermostat and it's metallic (even on the original fiat part)

Just worried about the impacts as engine was running overheated with steam coming out from AC vents for about 30mins or less. ![]()
