Hi just joined my soon past his test 2 weeks past an has a 56 plate 1.2 punto grande ,last week at just over 3000 revs the car cuts out battery light on and engine man light. Lift accelarater engine fires ok but management light on. Have tried it myself and if pushed rev counter goes to zero and stays at zero till restarted. Today I disconnected the battery and fitted new coil pack but could not remove plug leads, scared they would snap but do have new ones, eng man light out on restart but on acceleration same probs. Any ideas .
Regards Harry

Hi Harry, :)

not a common description - BUT.,

best course of action with ANY modern vehicle is to read the stored fault codes..,;)

however in the absence of ANY kit..;

the simplest is to remove the vehicles battery, and install a good working battery from another vehicle,

turn on ignition - WAIT - for all the self-tests to occur.,
then turn key to START engine

does it fire / run / idle..??

any dash lights left on..??:confused:

let us know and we can go from there, :)

Did that all warning lights go out ok. After warm up I revved engine and at around 3200 revs eng man and battery light comes on rev counter on zero ,just like switching off. If accelarater peddle lifted engine fires ok but Rev counter still at zero and does the same again if revved to 3200. Hope this makes sense. Mate with code reader coming this eve

Update changed the crank sensor today car now revs as it should, engine man light still flashing but have disconnect the battery so should be ok tomorrow. Thanks for your help

Start engine 3 or 4 times and fault might go away if u have fixed it and light should reset, ecu will store a pending code for it until reset but MIL light should go out.
