Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but still trying to get the hang of things, I've got the tapatalk app on my iPad and the fiatforum is shown on that but I can't log in or use it?
Anyway I am in Sheffield and recently bought a grande punto, it was in an accident before and thought it was something I'd fix up myself to use. Anyway the damage was to the passenger side and mainly which deployed the passenger airbag. I have a new airbag and a full new dashboard to replace it all. Now I've tried to get the dashboard off my car and I can't get it off at all. I've taken off the steering wheel and speedo and quite a few bolts/screws that seemed to be holding it on to the car and basically just followed the holes on the dashboard I have to replace that is currently unattached but I still can't get it off.
Is there anyone nearby to Sheffield who can give me a hand?
Thanks in advance, Nathan.

Welcome to the forum!
Where in Sheffield are you?

IIRC replacing dashboard is quite a task... And if you're replacing airbags you will either need the systems resetting (which I can do), or a replacement airbag computer.

Hi Nathan, sorry to jump on your post, how did you remove your speedo? I need to replace mine, just want a few tips. ?Cheers
Dan

I'm in Norfolk park just near Sheffield train station.

As for removing the speedo I think it was just a plastic surround I took of and then there were two screws underneath that? Can't remember now lol, I'd also taken the steering wheel off first too, not sure if you'd need to take it off first to gain access? But it was really easy to get out just a couple of screws.

Would you be able to help me out with the airbag problem then?

I'll be able to try and reset it yeah

Oh that'd be great! When could you come? Im not in a rush really so whenever is fine, obviously the sooner the car is working the better but I haven't even got the dashboard off yet never mind the steering rod end that bent or the bumper that's hanging off lol.

Is there any chance you could give me a hand with the dashboard at all? I think there is only going to be one or two hidden bolts somewhere holding it on.
The new bumper is coming tomorrow and the steering is getting sorted on Saturday. I'm gonna try and have another go with the dashboard tomorrow anyway but I just can't find what's holding it on.

So I take it this is from the e-learn manual then. I think this will definitely help thank you. I wish I never got that Haynes manual now. I suppose if I didn't have that I wouldn't have got the steering wheel off though.

I'll have another go tomorrow and see how I go on.

Ok so finally got round to having a go at removing the dashboard again. Now it is nearly off, I can lift nearly completely free. But it seem to be stuck somewhere near the windscreen? I have taken the three screws out at the bottom of the windscreen so it's not them, what cold it be? I have pictures but not sure how to post them atm, also taken a video. SO CLOSE ITS UNREAL! Lol

Really struggling with this now! It just won't come off, something is holding it on, I don't think it's any screws or bolts I think it may be clipped onto something else? Just can't get it off!

So I've decided that I'm going to buy a grinder from b&q tomorrow and I'm going to grind the dashboard off! I'm fed up with it, I've had crowbars hammers everything wedged in trying to get it off, but that's it tomorrow it's coming off and when I get to the bit that has held it on I'm going to bite it off and throw at a squawking crow in the tree opposite my house! The dashboard isn't even in line with a single part of the car yet it's still held on, as if one of the people who put my car together is living under the dash and is holding on to it as it is keeping him warm, much like my Mrs when I'm trying to sleep and she steals the quilt! Anyway I've had enough a grinder is £23 and that dashboard will fit in my bathroom bin when I've finished taking it apart!
The rest of the car is done now, just this dashboard.

Finally got the dashboard off, it was one screw holding it on. This screw was right in front of me and I'd dismissed this as a screw holding the dashboard on. Anyway after cutting the dashboard to pieces with some tool from b&q I found out it was this screw! Well it's off now anyway and now I've just got to fit the new dashboard now and remember what screw goes where!
The air bag is fitted too so will need help registering it to the car.
Shouldn't be long till its on the road!
