Please help, I have just put a new battery on my car and the odometer/trip meter screen in the middle of speedometer and rev counter has gone blank. When I initially turn on the ignition a type of computer language writing comes on the screen but then goes off. The back light on the screen is still on but nothing else.
Any one had this issue?
Any help much appreciated?

Hi Dan,
Afraid I don't have any help to offer but my 06 Grande has an odometer issue also. My odometer display frequently blinks and the characters change or disappear and sometimes extra characters appear. I am worried that mine will eventually end up like yours and I am now hoping someone suggests a cause to you and hopefully a solution.

I am going to try and replace the whole speedo cluster as you can buy second hand on eBayfor around £40. My thoughts are that when I plug the new one (second hand) the mileage comes on etc, as the mileage will come from ECU? Unless someone tells me I'm wrong? ?
 
No the cluster has its own data (trip, mileage etc)

Have in mind that you cannot decrease or increase mileage without special tools. (with multiecuscan you can increase only)

You can always take the cluster apart and clean the lcd contacts. Most of the time this fixes the problem.

I have been speaking with a Fiat parts supplier and he has told me which ever cluster I replace my own with my cars mileage will always show on the screen as the mileage is from the ECU. The cluster us just an LCD screen and has no memory, the memory comes from the ECU??
 
Billy I have sorted it! I was correct, I have just replaced the LCD itself from a second hand cluster to mine. It turned out that the LCD had gone kaput!!!! Easy 2minutes job!!!!

Dan, could you help me out. I've recently just bought a fiat punto 57 plate 1.9 MJ with the odometer not working they told me because the car was sat for a while and the battery had died as soon as they fired it back up again the odometer went. could you send step by step instructions of how you replaced the LCD screen. Want to give it a go.

I have this same issue it was fine before I took it to the garage did u fix it ?
