Hallo to all of you, as it is my first post on this forum! :)

I own Grande Punto 1.4,8V 77KM. I like this car very much, but there is one annoying think in it - the gearbox. It is to short for me, at 120km/h the engine has 3900RPMs.
I thought  that I will replace it with 6 speed gearbox from 1.4 16V version. I have searched the web, compared many photos and I belive that it is possibe. (y)
So my question is: is it realy possible to swap the gearbox? Anyone of you has tried to do it? If yes please give me some advices how to do it, what else except of new gearbox and new shifter do I need?

Thank you in advence.
Jacek

my fiat punto has about the same rpm but runs very economical at those rps (6.8l/100km) so i dont see why u would change it unless you want to go faster
but i have no experience with replacing it, maybe u can get a good, cheap one from a wrecked car ?
good luck!!

I have the same problem.
My 999cc palio have the same gearbox model than the grand punto but an even shorter gearbox ratio. 120km/h on 4300 rpm.:bang:
Now that I´m turbo charging it this short ratio will get more annoying.
I have a have a Bravo 6 speed box available from a wrecked car. But im very concerned about this swap. If it will take too much work will get too expensive. Are the gearbox supports compatible? If anyone knows, please help.:)

If there are some differences in supports- you can swap them too. if it is 1.4 16v non- turbo bravo (new) I have the same gearbox installed in my Punto. Gear ratios are:
1- 3,909
2- 4,909
3- 5,909
4- 6,909
5- 7,909
6- 8,909
FR- 4,07
